WHO IS EVRiM?

For 10 years, I was a copywriter here in Istanbul working for an advertising agency then I quit my job. My love with advertising had finished. Then I said to myself, what can I do then? I decided to bake cookies and cakes. It was nice but it wasn't what I was looking for.

In years, I had developed and drawn my little characters, and decided to pursue my art. I had always been a fan of Miyazaki, the creator of Totoro, Kiki, and many other extraordinarily beautiful animations. Tim Burton has always been one of my favorites as well.

I cannot deny their influences

in my artwork. And Mr Pablo Picasso. If there was a time machine, I definitely liked to visit him in his studio, watch him working.

I also discovered that drawing was a way of exposing myself; a way of racing through my own universe, traveling in the layers of my imagination, offering my slant on life, my opinions on paper; my illustrated lovables, if you will.

In 2008, we transitioned into taking over and putting our time, money, and lots of work into my husband Aydin's family apartment building and hosting tourists visiting Istanbul. After many months of very hard work, we both finally realized that it was actually a lovely job to do, meeting people from around the world, and that this is what we wanted to do for the time being. We have been open now for 6 years and have not looked back with any regrets. During this time, I have always continued drawing. I started to hang some of my work in the office and our apartments and was pleasantly surprised at receiving many lovely compliments on my work and encouragement to open up a small gallery on the premises.

At the end of 2012, we started work on an art gallery beside the office. The rest of the story will reside on evrimstheory.blogspot.com.tr.

Thank you for visiting. Hope to hear from you.
